This garden hadn’t been updated in years and had a large slope from top to bottom. Our clients wanted to make the garden useable for the whole family, which meant that it needed to be terraced.
We designed a large split level patio at the top of the garden, with enough space for relaxed seating, Bbq and a dining table and chairs. As yet this hasn’t been built due to the proposed re-development of the house. However the client wanted to do the bottom two-thirds of the garden so that they could enjoy the space whilst waiting for the rest to be completed after the house extension.
Stepping stones through the lawn lead down the garden to the areas beyond. Several sets of steps lead to the different areas, one of which now has a previously owned metal pergola and bench. Further down the garden, near the contemporary office, is a pond surrounded by lush planting and a relaxed seating area which can be enjoyed in the evening sun. The horizontal strip fencing, which helps to disguise an unsightly hedge adds a contemporary feel.
The result is a totally useable garden from top to bottom.
