Courtyard garden, Wheathampstead

This garden, which is the main access to the house, was very tired and needed completely updating. The client wanted a winter garden as she is away for extended periods during the spring and summer. Some contemporary style arches lead the way into the garden where there is a good sized patio for a table and chairs. Garden lighting really enhances the whole space and provides a safe passage to the house during the hours of darkness. Planting is chosen to be especially attractive during the winter months. Practical issues included extending the parking area and adding a dedicated utility space by the gate next to the shed.
