This garden was built around a modern looking, new build country house with amazing views. The brief was to have a more contemporary style nearer to the house with a wild flower area and a small crop of Betula utilis var jacquemontii trees further away, which are the clients’ favorite.
Raised beds were rendered and painted pale grey and have a mixture of Buxus balls, Agapanthus, Alliums and Pittosporum ‘Golf Ball’s, with grasses and other planting. A block-style planting scheme gave some more formality to this area, but still
using the clients favorite cottage garden style plants. A contemporary style water feature was placed centrally on the main patio and gives a focal point looking out of all doors and windows on three sides of the patio.
A separate patio was built next to the back door with space for a Bbq and bench. This area has glass panels to protect the area from the prevailing winds.
The front of the house was planted with mixed planting and a central island bed in the middle of the driveway. Contemporary horizontal style fencing match the wooden lines of the house and again allows the wind to come through without damaging the fences.
